Alexander Downer
Alexander Downer retired from politics in 2008 after a distinguished career spanning 23 years. He was Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs throughout the term of the Howard Government, from March 1996 until December 2007 and the Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Parliamentary Liberal Party from May 1994 to January 1995.Alexander has an unparalleled grasp of the global community, its countries, governments and peoples, as well as organisations such as the World Bank and the United Nations. Alexander is currently the Secretary General of the United Nations’ Special Envoy on Cyprus
